When things go wrong in your business, the first instinct is to fix the process. But according to culture strategist Taylor Davis, the real issue isn’t in your systems — it’s in you.
“The CEO’s energy sets the tone for everything,” she says. “If something feels off in your business, it’s because something’s off in you.”
Taylor knows this firsthand. After years in corporate leadership and agency operations, she began to notice a pattern: companies weren’t falling apart because of poor strategy — they were cracking under the weight of misaligned leadership.
Taylor’s first rule: audit yourself before your business.
She asks her clients to get brutally honest:
Are you communicating clearly?
Are you following up when you say you will?
Are you overextending out of guilt or control?
Where are you leaking energy that’s contaminating your culture?
She doesn’t mince words. “You have to get really real about how the f*ck you’re showing up,” she says. “Most dysfunction in your company is a reflection of your own unhealed leadership.”
