Mark Anthony grew up in Austin—a “unicorn” in a city full of transplants. Raised by a single mother alongside his siblings, Mark’s childhood was full of love, but it wasn’t easy.

At 14, he stepped into the role of man of the house, working at IHOP to help keep the lights on. “It didn’t seem like much at the time,” Mark recalls. “It was just what we did.”

But even before IHOP, the seeds of entrepreneurship were there. At nine years old, he sold candy in the neighborhood. By 14, he pivoted to selling weed—a decision that would teach him a hard lesson. After getting in trouble, Mark made a choice: quit cold turkey and choose a better path.

“It was a second chance. I had to decide what I wanted to be.”

Learning from the Roads: Lessons from Trucking

Inspired by his father, an entrepreneur who started his own trucking company, Mark got his CDL and spent years driving trucks, particularly concrete trucks. The experience taught him about logistics, handling large equipment, and the value of systems—a foundation that would later shape In & Out Movers.

“Everything comes back full circle. What I learned there, I use in my business now.”
